Atlanta Rod manufactures hot forged, domestic headed bolts. We forge headed bolts from 3/8″ to 2-1/2″ in diameter in the grades listed below. We can produce headed bolts in most lengths and in the head configurations outlined below.

We maintain a large inventory of carbon, alloys, nonferrous, and specialty raw materials to ensure shorter lead times to our customers.

We offer domestic certifications on all products and additional testing can be performed on request.

Hex

Bolt with a hexagonal shaped head commonly used in construction; also called a finished hex bolt. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 4.” Conforms to ASTM A307, Grade A specification. See the dimensional chart for specifics.


heavy hex bolts from Atlanta Rod

Heavy Hex

Similar to a hex bolt but has a larger head and head bearing area. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 3.” Conforms to ASTM A307, Grade B specification. See the dimensional chart for specifics.

Cap Screws

Similar to a hex bolt, but a cap screw has a washer face under the head and a chamfered end. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 1-1/2” and metric equivalents. Structural

Heavy hex structural bolts. Diameters we manufacture are ½” to 1-1/2” in long or non-standard sizes. Commonly manufactured to ASTM A325 and A490 specifications.


T head bolt, atlanta rod

T-Head

T-Head bolts have a t-shaped head designed to sit flush or below the material surrounding the bolt; often used in the waterworks industry. Commonly manufactured in stainless steel and conform to AWWA C111/A21.11-80 specifications.

Square Head Bolts

Designed for an easier wrench grip or to be turned by hand; typically used in construction or in railroad projects. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 1-1/2” and metric equivalents. Commonly manufactured to ASTM A449 or SAE J429, Grade 2, Grade 5 and Grade 8 specifications.

Flat Head Bolts

These bolts have a smooth head and are angled under the head allowing them to sit flush in countersunk applications. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 1-1/2” and metric equivalents. Commonly manufactured to ASTM A307, A449 and SAE J429 specifications.

Lag Bolts

Lag bolts are commonly used in the Marine Construction and DOT construction industries to connect heavy materials. We manufacture cone points as gimlet points are usually only found on small diameters. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8’’ to 2-½” and in custom lengths with custom thread lengths.

Dome Head

Used in wood applications; also called timber bolts. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 1-1/2” and metric equivalents. Commonly manufactured to ASTM A307 specification.

Carriage

Very similar to a dome head bolt but carriage bolts have a square neck under the head to prevent turning. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 1-1/2” and metric equivalents. Commonly manufactured to ASTM A307 specification.

Socket

Socket head cap screws are made to much tighter tolerances than standard hex bolts and withstand more torque for a tighter hold. We manufacture non-standard and specialty socket head cap screws. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to 2-1/4” and metric equivalents. See the dimensional chart for specifics.


Step Bolts

Step bolts are used in many applications but most commonly in the communication industry has a step on towers and utility poles. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8” to ¾.” Commonly manufactured to ASTM A449 specification.

Penta Head Bolt

Penta Head Bolts are typically used in public areas such as manhole and ground lid coverings for their added level of security. A special pentagon-shaped socket is required to use or remove the bolts and are not typically found in retail stores. Diameters we manufacture are 3/8’’ to 2-¼’’ in diameter in a variety of different materials and coatings.
